Shimla, April 6
Four people who attended a religious congregation in Delhi tested positive in Chamba on Saturday, officials said.
The latest number takes coronavirus cases in Himachal to 18, with one death.
The four who are from Chamba’s Tissa area were part of Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Delhi’s Nizamuddin mosque.
Eleven of the state’s 18 coronavirus cases were followers of Tablighi Jamaat, state authorities say.
The Nizamuddin event saw foreigners attend it, several of who tested positive later.
Authorities tracked down thousands of people in various parts of the country to isolate and test them.
India has so far reported over 4,287 coronavirus cases, with 109 deaths. The Union Health Ministry officials say Tablighi followers who attended the Nizamuddin event form a third of that number.
