Former director of Palampur agriculture university gets fellowship

Palampur, July 11

Dr Ranjodh Singh, former director, research, agriculture university, Palampur, and senior soil scientist from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, has been conferred a fellowship of the International Society for Noni Sciences (ISNS), Chennai, in the field of soil sciences. The award was given to him during the 3rd World Noni Congress at Varanasi.

The congress recognized the services of Dr Singh for intensive work on dry land farming in the Kandi belt in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal, and Haryana through the adoption of in-situ soil and water conservation practices. The technology developed by him to conserve soil and rainwater helped to increase the yield.

During his tenure as Director, Research, he played a key role in strengthening the research and extension education infrastructure, including human resources. —OC
