Five eatery workers isolated in Una

DC Sandeep Kumar said that a Tibetan national, who died on Monday at a hospital in Dharamsala and his blood samples had also tested positive for coronavirus, had taken meals at a restaurant in Amb city in Una district a few days ago.

He said the restaurant is being sanitised and five persons, believed to have been come in contact with the deceased have been quarantined.

Sandeep Kumar said that those quarantined included four persons from Amb and one from Bangana, adding that the sixth person, who had come in contact with the Tibetan was from Talwara in Punjab and that the information has been passed on to the Punjab police.

In a view to contain the spread of coronavirus in Una district, the DC today imposed a complete curfew in the district, which became effective from 1 pm today.

He has appealed to people to remain indoors and contribute to the fight against the disease. Ambulances, government officials deployed on emergency duties and those involved in maintaining law and order have been exempt from the curfew orders.

After the imposition of curfew orders, about a dozen people got stranded at the Mehatpur inter-state barrier. The DC ordered them to be provided free food and shelter at the government rest houses in the district till the curfew was lifted.

The district administration has placed an order for 700 protection kits to a firm located at the Basal Industrial area of the district. The unit has been ordered to provide these suits at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the district administration has set up a District Emergency Operation Centre for people suspected with coronavirus symptoms. The centre can be accessed on toll free number 1077, operated from within the district. It can alternately be accessed on landline numbers—225049, 225045, 225046, 225052 and 225059 with STD code 01975.

CMO Dr Raman Kumar Sharma said that no new patient with symptoms of flu had been reported in the district on Tuesday.

He said four persons, quarantined a few days ago have tested negative for Covid, adding that 239 persons in the district, who had recently come from abroad or from corona-affected areas in the country are in home quarantine.
