Himachal Dy CM: Drinking water schemes for Chintpurni shrine area ready

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that drinking water and sewerage projects for the Chintpurni shrine and its surrounding areas had almost been completed and would be dedicated to people next month. He inaugurated Cafe Cross Road, an eating joint in Nandpur village, on which the Temple Trust had spent Rs 60 lakh.

Agnihotri said that Rs 25 crore had been spent on the construction of the drinking water and sewerage projects for the Chintpurni temple. He added that a master plan for developing the shrine and its surroundings with focus on providing better facilities to pilgrims was being framed. A global consultancy firm had been given the task of preparing the master plan.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the interests of local people, besides the issue of traffic and other restrictions imposed during fairs would be considered in the master plan. He added that the state government had sanctioned Rs 8 crore for acquiring land in the periphery of the temple to accommodate an increasing number of pilgrims.

Agnihotri, who also holds the transport portfolio, said that 100 new bus routes were being started for tourists visiting different shrines in the state. Chintpurni MLA Sudarshan Babloo, Una Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma, who is also the Chairman of the Chintpurni Temple Trust, zila parishad member Satish Sharma and district Congress president Ranjit Rana were present on the occasion.
