NURPUR, JULY 13

The local Bar Association today passed a resolution demanding a permanent court of the District and Sessions Judge at Nurpur. A resolution was passed at a meeting presided over by Ravi Puri, president of the Bar Association.

In the resolution, the association has appealed to the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court to consider the public demand of setting up a district and sessions court here. It would help people get justice in their area.

The association has submitted a resolution to the Chief Minister through Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania. In the resolution, the association has pleaded that the litigants had to travel over 100 kilometres to attend appellate work and file their cases in the District and Sessions Court at Dharamsala.

It stated that four sub divisional judicial courts were functioning at Nurpur, Jawali and Indora which could be attached with the permanent court of the district and sessions court after its establishment at Nurpur which would facilitate thousands of litigants in filing their cases and appeals at their doorsteps.

The association claimed that there was adequate accommodation available for functioning of the said court at Nurpur.

One revenue court was lying vacant which could be utilized for housing district and sessions court permanently.

One circuit court of the Additional District and Sessions Court has been functioning for one week in a month at Nurpur for the past few years for hearing regular cases as assigned by the District and Sessions Court, Dharamsala.
