De-addiction centre inmate hangs himself in Mandi

A 24-year-old youth was found dead at a drug de-addiction centre at Jhiri in Mandi district on Thursday. He was identified as Mukesh Kumar, a native of Jai Singh village in Mandi.

The police said the youth had been admitted to the centre by his family. The management of the centre found the youth hanging in a bathroom on its premises. They informed the police about the incident.

“Preliminary inquiry reveals that the youth committed suicide. However, we are looking into all aspects of this case. Investigation is underway,” said a police officer. — TNS
