Covid cases go up in Una industrial areas

UNA, JANUARY 16

As many as 80 new Covid cases were reported in Una today, taking the active tally in the district to 1,092. The Covid positivity rate was reported at 10.89 per cent today, which is better than Saturday’s 16 per cent.

The infection has reached industrial areas of Tahliwal, Mehatpur, Amb and Gagret. Of total 80 cases reported today, 23 are from the industrial units spread across the district. Una has borders with Punjab and almost all industrial areas are located here. There is uncontrolled movement of daily wagers across the borders.

The district administration has notified that any public gathering held without online registration would be a punishable offence under the Disaster Management Act.

Dr Raman Kumar Sharma, CMO, has cautioned people against gatherings. He said travel should be avoided unless urgent.— OC
