Covid cases go past 2,500 in Himachal

With 103 Covid cases today, the state’s tally shot up to 2,506. The steep increase in Solan and Sirmaur continued with 35 and 22 new cases. Mandi reported the highest-ever spike of 24 new cases. Besides, nine persons tested positive in Kangra, six in Shimla, three in Una, two in Kullu and one each in Bilaspur and Kinnaur.

Solan: Thirtyfive persons, including a one-year- old boy and a girl, five policemen and a 30-year-old theft accused, tested positive in Solan district. The cases include 26 people from the BBN industrial belt, five from Solan and three from Parwanoo.

Three of the five policemen are from the BBN belt and two from Parwanoo. Police stations at Nalagarh and Parwanoo have been sealed.

Twenty-two persons, including a two-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl, tested positive in Sirmaur district.

Mandi: As many as 24 new Covid cases were reported in Mandi district. Most are the primary contacts of positive patients. Of these, 13 cases were reported from Ramnagar in Mandi, while one was from Jail Road and one from Place Colony in the town.

Dharamsala: Seven more persons have tested Covid positive in Kangra. They include two Army men, one of Bara village near Dehra and another of Chahri village near Nagrota Bagwan. A Navy seaman of Massal village near Nagrota Bagwan, who has a travel history from Kerala, has also been infected.

Lockdown in Nurpur

The local administration imposed a four-day lockdown in Nurpur from today till Sunday after eight family members of a Covid patient at ward number 4 here tested positive last evening. All shops, including of essential commodities, remained closed on the first day. The patient, who has a poultry farm and restaurant, tested positive on Sunday and shifted to the Covid Care Centre at Dadh on Monday.
