Coronavirus: Solan couple, Kangra woman booked for violating quarantine rules

A couple from Solan who recently came back from abroad was booked on Friday for having broken home quarantine procedure and a Kangra woman whose preliminary tests show she is coronavirus positive was booked for having hidden her recent travel to Dubai.  

Tanveer and Neha, residents of Kothi Kunal in Arki Tehsil, had returned to India from Indonesia.

The couple had returned from Indonesia on March 10 and was advised by medical authorities to follow home quarantine procedure for 28 days.

Police registered a case under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 271 (disobedience to quarantine rule) of the Indian Penal Code after Block Medical Officer Arki Radha Sharma filed a complaint, Additional SP Solan Shiv Kumar Sharma.   

The two offences carry an imprisonment of up to six months and a fine.  

Kangra woman booked for hiding travel history 

Meanwhile, a Kangra woman who tested positive for the infection on Friday has been booked under Section 270 of the Indian Penal Code (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) for not cooperating with authorities.

Several people in touch with her have now been quarantined.

Kangra Superintendent of Police Vimukt Ranjan has issued orders asking those with recent travel history to report themselves to authorities or face legal action.

Meanwhile, Kangra CMO said the district had 575 asymptomatic people who recently travelled abroad. Of these, 52 people have completed 28 days of observation, 180 have left the state, 150 have been home quarantined and there were only two people in the hospital. State administration was still looking for 191 people with have recent travel history.

Preliminary tests show that one person who travelled to Singapore also tested positive in Kangra on Friday.
