The Congress organised a protest rally at Bilaspur today alleging that the BJP was behind assault on Bambar Thakur, a former MLA. Thakur was assaulted and injured at the office of a railway construction company yesterday. The police arrested six persons in the case and initiated investigation.

Kamlender Kashyap, president, Zila Parishad, Bilaspur, alleged that the silence maintained by BJP leaders over the incident gave rise to suspicion. He said that the police acted fast in the matter but still some people were absconding and they should be arrested at the earliest. Former ZP member Subhash Thakur, District Congress secretary Ranbir Chandel and Congress workers participated in the rally.
