CM unveils Vajpayee’s bust at Dhalpur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various development projects for Kullu through videoconferencing from Shimla today.

He unveiled the bust of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Sadan in the district headquarters, Dhalpur. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs 24 lakh.

The Chief Minister said it was a gesture of respect to the great leader, who had special love and affection towards the state in general and Kullu-Manali in particular.

He inaugurated the administrative block of Regional Hospital, Kullu, constructed at a cost of Rs 4.15 crore. He also inaugurated a sub-way at Bhutti Chowk at Dhalpur. It has been built under the AMRUT yojana Thakur laid the stone of the building of Government Senior Secondary School, Dughilug.

The Chief Minister said he would have personally visited Kullu to dedicate these projects to the residents of the area, but it was not possible due to the pandemic.

The CM said 10 nurses (on outsource basis) and four doctors would be deployed at Regional Hospital, Kullu, till March 31, to ensure the timely treatment of Covid and other patients.

He said the new administrative block would ensure additional bed capacity of 100 so that Covid patients could be treated here only instead of shifting them to the Ner Chowk medical college, Mandi.

Thakur said the sudden surge in the Covid cases had forced the government to take stringent steps. Social gatherings had been capped at 50 and the fine for not using mask at public places had been increased to Rs 1,000. He directed the administration to ensure that the orders were not violated.

Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur thanked the Chief Minister for inaugurating and laying the stones of various development projects for Kullu. Health Minister Rajiv Saizal, who was on a visit to the Covid ward of the IGMC, Shimla, joined the event online. Mandi MP Ram Swaroop Sharma detailed various Central and state schemes launched for the welfare of the people.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar and Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj were present in Shimla with the Chief Minister, whereas Banjar MLA Surender Shourie, DC Richa Verma, SP Gaurav Singh attended the event in Kullu.
