Mandi, May 17

Chinese helicopters reportedly violated the Indian airspace at Sumdo on the border of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts on April 11 and April 20, officials said on Sunday. HP shares around 200 km of its boundary with China in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts. It is manned by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel.

Additional District Magistrate, Kaza, Gyan Sagar Negi said the movement of Chinese helicopters was noticed at Sumdo last month, but it lasted only for a few seconds.

DGP Sita Ram Mardi said, “The incidents were reported last month and the security agencies have been maintaining a close eye on the situation since then.” No such incident has been reported this month so far, he added. — TNS
