Chandigarh-Manali NH thrown open after 15 hours

The Chandigarh-Manali highway was restored to traffic between Mandi and Kullu after a gap of almost 15 hours today. The highway was blocked for traffic near 6 Mile, a few km away from Mandi town towards Kullu side yesterday at 7 pm. A massive landslide occurred in the area which blocked the highway completely. As a result, a long traffic jam was witnessed.

The district administration had closed the highway for traffic movement between Mandi and Kullu on Thursday. The movement of light vehicles was diverted on alternate routes via Mandi-Kataula-Kullu road. The heavy vehicles plying to Kullu from Mandi side were stopped in Mandi town, while from Kullu side coming to Mandi were stopped at Pandoh. The NHAI restored the highway for traffic around 10 am today.
