Mandi, October 29

Due to freezing weather conditions in the region, Chandratal lake, a famous tourist destination in Lahaul and Spiti, has been closed for tourists by the district administration.

With the temperature dipping in the region, the road leading to the Chandratal lake area is covered with frost. Additional District Magistrate, Kaza, Gyan Sagar Negi said mild snowfall was witnessed near the lake two days ago, due to which travelling on the roads in the region had become risky.

“As a precautionary measure, the famous tourist hotspot Chandratal lake has been closed for tourists and the movement of vehicles is strictly restricted in view of public safety,” he said.
