Dalhousie, June 11

The Chamera Power Station-I (CPS-I) has decided to release huge amounts of water from its dam after blowing the siren between June 15 and October 15 during the forthcoming rainy season.

In an official note issued here today, the power station has cautioned general public to stay alert and follow necessary precautions during this period when the Chamera-I dam water will be released. “The water from the Chamera-I dam is released every year during the rainy season for the smooth functioning of the power station,” it said.

“During this period, people living along the Ravi should neither go near the river, nor cross it. Also, they should not allow their livestock to move along the river,” the note stated. If there was any loss of life of property of any resident due to the release of water, the power station or its management will not be responsible, it added. — OC
