Ravinder Thakur, senior BJP leader and former IPH minister, today categorically stated that he would fight the coming Assembly election either from Sulaha or Dehra Gopipur, as per directions of the party leadership.

Thakur, while addressing mediapersons here, said that Hoshiyar Singh, Independent MLA from Dehra, had recently joined the BJP but party workers were with him. The ticket from the Dehra Gopipur constituency could not be denied to him. He said that he had been working in the constituency from Day one when he lost the Assembly election in 2017.

He said that he was under pressure from the residents of Sulaha to contest the election from their constituency. However, he had left it to the party leadership to take the final decision. He added that he was a loyal soldier of the BJP and would not join any other party. “The BJP government in Himachal has done a commendable job in the past four-and-a-half years and the party will again form government after the forthcoming Assembly elections,” he said.

Thakur said that most of the projects nearing completion or completed in Dehra Gopipur were initiated when he was MLA. Though there was an Independent MLA in Dehra Gopipur, the state government gave him liberal grants for the completion of projects, he added.

He said when the lift drinking water supply scheme is completed, the problem of scarcity in Dehra Gopipur would end. The IPH Department had lifted water from the Beas for supply to Dehra residents.
