Shimla, October 26

With CM Jai Ram Thakur returning to office after 14 days of testing Covid positive, the Cabinet, at its meeting tomorrow, is likely to take a call on opening schools, colleges and holding the examinations of first and second year college students. The Cabinet meeting was delayed for quite some time after the Chief Minister and two other ministers Suresh Bhardwaj and Ram Lal Markanda tested positive for Covid.

Though students of Class IX to XII have been allowed to come to school with prior permission of parents regular classes are not being held. As such, a decision regarding regular classes, at least for the senior students, is likely. About 60 per cent parents during a recent parent-teacher meeting had expressed keenness that studies are held at least for Class IX to XII, in view of the board examinations.

Besides, the Education Department has to take a call on whether to promote first and second year college students without holding examinations or not. Some other issues like charging of fees over and above the tuition fee by private schools, are also likely to be discussed.

Some other important issues related to the Health Department and appointments are also likely to get the nod from the Cabinet.
