‘BJP politicising university issue’

Show comments

Shimla, November 20

Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today accused the BJP of playing politics on the issue of setting up a permanent campus of Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP).

In a statement, Virbhadra said the remarks of Union Minister Anurag Thakur made this fact very obvious. “It was in 2007 that the previous UPA government announced the Central university for the state but even after almost 13 years the institution is yet to have a permanent campus,” he lamented. Referring to the verbal duel between Anurag and the CM, he said the university was becoming a casualty of the infighting in the BJP. “When I was the CM, all formalities for the Jadrangal campus were completed and I had personally visited the site identified for the campus,” he added. — TNS
