Bike skids into Parbati river on Bhuntar-Manikaran road, Delhi tourist drowned

A tourist from Delhi was drowned as the motorcycle (HP58-8709) he was riding fell into the Parbati river near Sarsari on the Bhuntar-Manikaran road yesterday.

Kullu SP Gurdev Sharma said Chetan Bagga from West Delhi had rented a motorcycle and left Manali for Manikaran. He said the motorcycle fell into the Parbati river near Sarsari. Chetan’s body was recovered from the river near Panarsa today. His friend Raman Kumar identified the body.

The SP said the owner of the motorcycle told the police that Chetan had borrowed two helmets from him stating that his wife would be riding pillion. During investigation, it was found that Chetan’s wife was at home. The helmets and a bag were found on the roadside; a woman’s jacket was also found in the bag.

He said a case under Section 279 of IPC had been registered and investigation was underway. A search operation had been launched for the missing woman.
