Shimla, October 26

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said past attempts to float political outfits in Himachal have not been very successful.

Reacting to the formation a political outfit by former minister and MP Rajan Sushant, the Chief Minister said though anybody has the right to speak his mind or float a party such experiments have not been very successful in the past.

“Everyone has the right to express their views or float a party in a democracy so I do not wish to say much,” he said. He said as far as Sushant is concerned everyone is aware about him and know everything so he does not need to say much.

Industries, Transport, Labour and Employment Minister Bikram Singh in a press statement issued here today condemned the statement of Sushant. “He is an ambitious and opportunist politician and whichever party he stayed in, he never had contentment. He was never loyal to his party. He considers himself superior and is always making unrestrained rhetoric,” the minister said.

He said Sushant has always given preference to his personal interests and benefits and has never hesitated to put public interest on the stake for power and now he has been completely exposed.

Bikram said Sushant keeps searching for new excuses to make headlines and his announcement of a new party is just a stunt. Before questioning the functioning of the government, he should clarify what was his contribution to the state and the region, he added.

“It is due to the popularity of the government that some opportunistic leaders are feeling very insecure, hence making concocted rhetoric through newspapers,” he said. He advised Sushant to behave with dignity as people were well aware of the truth and do not believe those who do petty politics.
