Mandi, December 10

The district administration has decided to construct a parking lot and toilets at a cost of Rs 5 crore to provide better amenities to tourists on the Jalori Pass in Kullu district.

The Jalori Pass in Banjar is one of the most famous tourist destinations. However, the place lacks basic amenities due to the neglect by successive governments.

Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg said, “The district administration has decided to construct a parking lot and toilets for tourists. I have given the responsibility of the works to the Forest Department, which has already conducted an exercise. The district administration will provide funds to the department,” he added.

“The Jalori Pass receives heavy snowfall in winters. As soon as the weather permits, the work will start,” he said.

The pass is situated at 10,800 feet, which is accessible from Mandi, Kullu and Shimla districts through the Aut-Luhri highway. The area is blessed with a bounty of nature and attractive forest treks, which lure tourists.

Meanwhile, residents of Anni and Banjar have appreciated the decision of the district administration. They are hopeful that the administration will execute the project at the earliest for the promotion of tourism in the region.
