APG University, Shimla, adopts New Education Policy

APG University, Shimla, has adopted the New Education Policy (NEP) - 2020. During the student orientation programme, Vice-Chancellor Ramesh Kumar Choudhary said a task force had been constituted on October 10 to adopt the NEP after the notification of the government and implementation of the policy in HP schools and higher education institutions. The VC said the new policy would play a key role in making students, society and the nation self-reliant.

Universities flouting rules: ABVP

The ABVP has alleged that private universities were charging fee from the students as per their whims and fancies, and no rules were being followed while appointing faculty. ABVP’s Rahul Rana said as per the UGC-2018 guidelines, at least 10 years of experience was necessary for the post of professor, but the universities were not following this rule. He alleged that private universities were appointing unqualified persons on posts of registrar, controller of examination and finance officer.

Webinar on ‘concrete structures’

Abhilashi University, Chail Chowk, Mandi, organised a webinar on ‘Avatars of concrete’. Academicians from various universities and institutes participated in the webinar. Chancellor RK Abhilashi emphasised designing of buildings and other structures as per the requirements of the latter part of the 20th century. Professor HS Banyal, Vice-Chancellor, said cement, sand and gravel, the conventional constituents of concrete, are important, but the use of fibre and nano technology is helping in raising stable structures.

Book on HPU MUSIC DePT released

A book ‘Sampravah’, authored by PN Bansal, professor, department of music, HPU, and Dr TC Kaul was released by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Sikander Kumar. The book is about the journey of the department in the past 50 years.
