Congress leader Anand Sharma back in state politics?

Show comments

The arrival of former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Anand Sharma in Himachal on a three-day tour has led to speculations about his possible return to state politics. Sharma’s term as Rajya Sabha MP comes to an end next month and it is uncertain if he will get nomination from any other state. He will visit Baddi-Nalagarh area in Solan district and is scheduled to address four public meetings. Considering his stature, many CM aspirants are squirming at the thought of losing out to Sharma, who, undoubtedly, could put an end to the feud within the party. Now, only time will tell if Sharma will fill the void left behind by Virbhadra Singh.

Taking sadistic pleasure

A news regarding the thrashing of a state BJP leader in Punjab went viral on social media this week. The news generated political gossip in Kangra district, with many party leaders drawing sadistic pleasure out of it. While Congress leaders did not show much interest in it, many BJP leaders were desperately looking for the video, with an intention of making it viral.

Touchy BJP netas

Politicians of the BJP often get touchy about their hold on the civic bodies. When a no-confidence motion was moved against the BJP-supported president and vice-president of the Baddi MC, party leaders spared no effort to defer the motion. While it should have been a wake up call ahead of the Assembly poll, energy is being lost in prevailing upon the administration to defer the move. Fingers are also being raised at the officials who have thrown all norms to the winds merely to appease the leaders in power.
