All schools, which have been converted into quarantine centres will be vacated, sanitised and handed over to the school authorities by June 1.

The move indicates the government's intent to resume classes soon.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Solan, Vivek Chandel, said as per the State Government directions, all schools where people have been quarantined are being vacated and the process will be completed by June 1.

He added that only a few government school buildings at Manpura, Ramshehar, Barotiwala, Nalagarh, etc, were used as quarantine centres and only a few people were staying there.

The premises will be thoroughly sanitised and handed back to the school authorities.

While only a few private school buildings were converted into quarantine centres in Baddi, the majority of the government school buildings and other private and public sector buildings were converted into quarantine centres to house the Himachalis coming back.

As many as 304 people were under quarantine in the Nalagarh subdivision in 7 schools-Panjhera, Barotiwala, Ramshehar, Nand, Nalagarh, Rajpura and Manpura and two college hostels at Nalagarh besides other buildings.

Local administrations have already identified adequate community centres in the bordering areas for use as quarantine centres in case more people came back to the State.

Being the gateway to the State, a large number of Himachalis were quarantined in the bordering areas of the Solan district. They had come through trains, buses and in personal vehicles while some had also come on foot to Baddi.
