Following the precipitation over the last few days, 600 roads and over 1,400 distribution transformers continue to be non-operational across the state. Among 600 blocked roads, five national highways are also obstructed, including NH-5 at Nigulsari in Kinnaur.

While trying to restore the national highway at Nigulsari, a driver of an earth moving machine died when he was caught in a landslide at the spot today morning.

The maximum obstructed roads (290) are in the district of Lahaul and Spiti, followed by Shimla (158) and Chamba (63). As many as 124 water supply schemes are yet to be restored.

The forecast for Tuesday is generally dry with the exception of rain/snow at isolated places in high hills. However, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan region from Tuesday night, which is likely to trigger a light to moderate spell of precipitation on March 6 and 7.

For March 6 and 7, the weather department has issued a yellow alert. As per the department, there is a possibility of avalanches at isolated places in the districts of Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti on these two days. The department has advised people to follow the advisories and guidelines issued by the departments concerned and take adequate safety measures.
