Himachal coronavirus count rises to 313

Active cases stand at 197

The total number of coronavirus cases in Himachal rose to 313 on Saturday with 197 of these being active.

Baddi, Kangra and Mandi districts reported new cases.

In Baddi, an eleven-year-old son of a migrant woman from Uttar Pradesh tested coronavirus positive on Saturday morning, taking district's tally to 24. 

Two days ago, the mother had also tested positive. The entire family— including the parents and two children—were kept under isolation at ESIC in a COVID-19 hospital at Katha.

With a travel history of Shamli, the woman had come for COVID-19 test at Baddi on her own, along with her husband on May 26 at a Baddi hospital.

Dr NK Gupta, Medical Officer Health, Solan, said: "The father of the child had tested negative on May 28. Their 3-year-old daughter has also tested negative, but they continue to be under isolation. The family had sneaked in Baddi through an escape route on May 23".

The family lived with four other people at a rented accommodation on the Sai Road at Baddi. Their 27 contacts have been identified.

There were 14 active cases in Solan, now, nine have been cured.

Five more coronavirus positive cases were reported in Kangra on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the district to 78.

Out of those who tested positive, a 53-year-old man—resident of Agar village, Kangra—had a travel history to Delhi. A 58-year-old man, who returned from Gurgoan on May 28, 2020—resident of Village Dashlun Lambagaon, Jaisinghpur— is quarantined at NIFT Kangra, and a 39-year-old man—resident of village Bhalera tehsil Jawali— had a travel history from Delhi is under quarantine at Kangra Subdivision.

On Friday night, a 25-year-old man of village Mehra Tehsil Fatehpur—who returned from Mumbai— was at Institutional Quarantine Parlour also tested positive.

All have been shifted to COVID-19 containment center in Dadh.

A 23-year-old man from Mandi's Nagvain area tested positive for COVID-19 at Chandigarh PGIMER.

The man, who was employed as a driver, had met with an accident few days ago and was being treated for his injuries when he tested positive. 

He made frequent trips between Mandi and Chandigarh to transport vegetables between the two places in his carrier vehicle. 

Mandi's Chief Medical Officer Mandi Jeevanand Chauhan said authorities were now tracing his contacts to isolate and test them.

The state now has 313 COVID-19 cases and has so far reported five deaths.
