The steep surge in Covid cases continued unabated with 326 new cases being detected today, taking the total tally to 9,555. Four deaths were reported as the fatality figure rose to 75
While two deaths took place in Sirmaur, one occurred each in Kangra and Solan. The highest 97 positive cases reported were from Solan followed by 54 in Sirmaur, 47 in Kangra, 45 in Mandi, 38 in Una, 21 in Shimla, 19 in Bilaspur and five in Chamba. With these cases the number of active cases in the state stands at 3,364.
Two die in BBN zone
Two infected women from the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial cluster died in the past 24 hours.
A 55-year-old woman, who was suffering from diabetes and hypertension, was admitted at the PGI, Chandigarh, on September 2, and died last evening. She was cremated in Chandigarh. She hails from Tali village in Baddi.
In the second case, a 72-year-old women, who tested positive yesterday, died this afternoon at Badhonighat village in Chandi block. She was earlier admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh, on September 1 with the complaint of pain in abdomen and had been in home isolation since September 8. She was cremated as per the protocol in her village, said health officials.
Woman succumb in Kangra
Coronavirus claimed one more life in Kangra district. As per CMO, 62-year-old woman of Palodha village in Jawali was admitted to Tanda medical college yesterday with fever, cough and breathlessness. She was tested positive for the infection this morning and died later. This was 14th coronavirus death in Kangra district. Besides, 47 tested positive, taking the total number of cases in the district to 1,447, including 575 active cases, 858 recovered and 14 deaths. Those tested positive included a heath worker from Nurpur.
54 cases in Sirmaur
Fiftyfour cases were reported from Sirmaur district — 13 cases from Nahan, two from Paonta Sahib, five from Shillai and Sangrah each and one from Pachhad. They are the direct contacts of earlier cases.
