Solan, September 18

Two youths of Baddi and Dharampur were duped of Rs 1,82,508 in Solan district yesterday.

Baddi resident Satender Pandey lodged a complaint with the police that Rs 25 had been debited from his State Bank of India account yesterday following which he called at the bank’s toll-free number to enquire about it.

Pandey said no one responded on the toll-free number, but he received a call from an unknown mobile phone number and he narrated it to the caller. He asked Pandey to provide a password following which Rs 92,508 was also debited from his account.

In the other case, Dharampur resident Naveen Kumar lodged a complaint with the police that he had applied for a loan through Mohit Grover’s State Loan Service. He had handed over the copies of key documents like Aadhar card, PAN, salary slip, account statement, bank cheque, etc, to get the loan.

Kumar, however, alleged that his documents were misused and Rs 90,000 was transferred from his account through an NEFT by Grover.

The cases of cheating were registered in both cases under Section 420 of the IPC last evening and further probe was under way.
