2 Nepalese perish in house fire

Two Nepalese died in a house fire at Nathpa village in Kinnaur district in wee hours today.

According to the police, as soon as they received information about the incident, they along with firefighters reached the village and managed to extinguish the fire with the help of locals.

Two bodies were recovered from the house, which were later identified as of the Nepalese. The police said that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. The duo probably died because they were fast asleep when the fire broke out. The police are investigating the incident.

10 shops gutted in Manali

Mandi: Ten temporary shops near the Hadimba temple under Manali police station in Kullu district were destroyed in a fire incident in wee hours on Wednesday. Goods kept in the shops were also destroyed. However, no loss of life was reported.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Manali, KD Sharma said that according to the affected shopkeepers, a loss of around Rs 7 lakh was suffered in the incident.

The police had launched an investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the fire. He added that no one was injured in the incident and a team of firefighters put off the fire quickly.
