UNA: 2 kabaddi players, school principal on SVEEP panel

The district Election Department today constituted a three-member committee of icons for the SVEEP programme.

The first icon nominated to the committee is Ajay Singh Thakur, former captain of the national kabaddi team. He was part of the national teams, which won the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup and the gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games. He is the recipient of the Padma Shri and Arjuna Award and is at present posted as DSP (Headquarters) in Una

The second icon is Vishal Bhardwaj, another national kabaddi player from Dehlan village in the district. He was part of the Indian contingent for the 1990 Asian Games. He had also played in the 2022 Asian Games in China.

District Election Officer Jatin Lal nominated Amarjeet Kaur, principal of ‘Ashray’, a school–cum-rehabilitation centre for special children at Dehlan village.
