2,227 cases of lockdown, curfew violations: DGP

As many 2,227 cases have been registered in Himachal for curfew and lockdown violations from March 23 till day and 31,317 challans have been issued for not wearing face masks and a fine of Rs124,22,450 has been realised from the violators. Preventative action has been taken against 2,304 persons and 1,934 vehicles have been seized for violations

So far, 1,339 police personnel have tested Covid-19 positive, and 978 of them have recovered, 360 are still infected and one has died.

The violations of the directions regarding face masks and social distancing were being monitored by drones and CCTV cameras, said DGP Sanjay Kundu here today.

Direction had been given to all SPs that any person found not wearing mask and contravening the directions of the government should be liable to arrest without a warrant and on conviction should be punishable with imprisonment for up to eight days or a fine up to Rs 5,000, he added.

The compounding fee for the offence committed for not wearing mask shall be Rs 1,000. The police have also sensitised over 3.7 lakh persons regarding Covid behaviour and 22,665 hoardings and posters have been placed at various locations in the state.
