Solan, February 14

The working of the Baddi police has come under the scanner as three owners of the gutted perfume manufacturing unit, NR Aromas, have not been arrested even 12 days after the devastating fire.

Only the plant head Chandershekhar and deputy plant head Vinod Kumar Bilwa have been arrested. Despite issuance of non-bailable warrants against three owners — Nilesh Patel, Siddharth Patel and Milan Patel — none have been arrested so far.

The factory workers who have lost their kin were irate at this lax attitude of the police as the factory owners continue to have a free run. “Since no local resident of the Baddi industrial area has died, the authorities are not serious to bring the guilty to book. The migrants have no voice here as despite such a devastating tragedy, the company officials have not extended any financial help nor a word of solace to the affected families,” said a victim’s kin who did not want to be quoted.

They also added that since no official had suffered in the incident, there was no concern for the workers who have lost their lives.

The police claims its teams were camping in Indore, Ratlam and other places in Madhya Pradesh to arrest the trio. With the Assembly session underway, police officials hesitated to talk to the media.
