Kullu, July 19
AAP members submitted a memorandum to the district administration here yesterday, urging it to provide relief to horticulturists. AAP leader Arun Sharma said increasing the minimum support price (MSP) for apple by Re 1 per kg was a mockery of growers. There should be an increase of Rs 10 in the MSP under the market intervention scheme.
“The cost of fertilisers, pesticides, medicines, cartons and other packaging material had also increased abruptly and the price of apple was going down,” he said.
Sharma alleged that the BJP had done nothing for farmers. “The party is implementing anti-farmer policies and encouraging corporate houses and middlemen,” he added. AAP leader Anurag Prarthi said the apple season had started but the state government was exploiting the horticulturists instead of providing them relief.
