‘Guard against sudden headache, numbness of face’

Panchkula: “Patients should watch out for sudden severe headache, frequent headache associated with double vision, numbness of face and pain behind eyes, as these symptoms are related to hemorrhagic stroke,” said Dr Amandeep Singh, consultant interventional neuroradiology at a private hospital here.

Patients are advised not to take aspirin or any other blood thinner, without getting an urgent CT scan. Also, keep a close watch on blood pressure levels as increased blood pressure is harmful, he said. “Smoking is also a major risk factor for rupture or bleeding of aneurysms,” said Dr Amandeep. The advanced treatment of these aneurysms is possible by neuro-interventional techniques, using coils and flow diverters, he added. TNS
