  • Superintendent of District Jail, Jagadhri, Sanjeev Pattar said Mustak was brought to the jail on June 2 in connection with a case lodged against him under the NDPS Act.
  • He said the undertrial was first admitted to the jail hospital and was later shifted to the Trauma Centre of the Civil Hospital.

He said the undertrial prisoner was a drug addict. He was first admitted to the jail hospital and was later shifted to the Trauma Centre of the Civil Hospital yesterday.

However, members of the deceased’s family alleged that Mustak died due to injuries inflicted upon him by six persons on June 1 due to old rivalry.

Aarif, elder brother of the deceased, alleged that the attackers handed over his brother to the police and got a fake case registered against him under the NDPS Act.

“The Magistrate today recorded my statement at the Civil Hospital. I requested the official to book the attackers for my brother’s death and for framing him in a false case,” he added.

Civil Surgeon Dr Vijay Dahiya said, “The patient was examined by a psychiatrist. He was a chronic drug addict. His liver function test was deranged.” He said the postmortem was conducted by a board of doctors and viscera samples had been sent for examination to ascertain the cause of the death.
