Rohtak, January 29

Responding to former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s assertion that the state was No. 1 during his tenure, state BJP president Nayab Singh Saini alleged that the state was No. 1 in corruption, regional bias and atrocities on the downtrodden under Hooda’s rule.

“Yes, Haryana was No. 1 in giving away farmers’ land to builders (during Hooda’s tenure),” he said while addressing a news conference here today.

Saini, who had arrived to hold meetings of the ruling party leaders looking after different Lok Sabha segments in the state, said they were ready for the elections, which were likely to be announced soon.

Questioned about the timing of questioning Hooda by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the BJP leader said the ED was an independent agency and it worked as per its agenda and availability of time.

“Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is a product of the India Against Corruption campaign, has also been called for questioning by the ED. Some leaders of his party are in jail. They should clarify their position and cooperate with the ED authorities,” he said, denying political vendetta.

Asked why no leaders of the ruling party were on the ED’s radar, he asserted that the ED conducted raids/interrogations wherever it suspected irregularities.
