Faridabad, January 20

Ten students of a private school in Ballabgarh town in Faridabad district had to be hospitalised on Monday morning after a fellow student of Class VIII used a pepper spray in the class. The students were rushed to a hospital by the school authorities.

ACP (Ballabgarh) Jaiveer Rathi, who visited the school and the hospital, said all the affected students were stable and a majority of them were expected to be discharged soon.

He said the matter was of ‘negligence’, as one of the students had brought the pepper spray in the classroom and sprayed it “for fun”.

He said the student, who was a minor, misconstrued the bottle as of a body spray and used it when he showed it to his classmates. A majority of the students who fell sick reported nausea, cough and giddiness.

The kin and parents of the students also reached the school and the hospital to know about the condition of their wards. “No case has been registered,” the police said. — TNS
