Shocking! Stray dog mauls newborn to death after picking it up from a private hospital's ward in Panipat

In a shocking incident, a stray dog killed a 2-day-old infant, after picking it up from a private hospital’s ward in the wee hours on Tuesday. The infant was sleeping along with grandmother in the ward.

The family members found the mutilated body of the infant from outside the hospital when the stray dog was hacking the infant.

The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the hospital, in which the stray dog was seen moving with a child in its mouth. Following the incident, Sector 13/17 police reached the hospital and sent the body of the infant to the mortuary for postmortem examination.

The incident happened in a private hospital ‘Heart and Mother Care Hospital’ here at around 2 am as the dog was seen moving with a child in his mouth at around 2 am.

As per information, Shabnam, wife of Aas Mohammad of Furgan village of Kairana in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh admitted his wife to the hospital for delivery on June 25.

Shabnam delivered a male child on the same night. She has been admitted to a general ward on the first floor of the hospital. Shabnam and her child were sleeping on the bed there while other family members, Aas Mohammad and his mother, were sleeping on the floor there. After feeding the child, his grandmother had made him lie down on the floor with them. When she woke up at around 2.15 am, she found the child missing.

The family members along with the hospital staff started searching for the child and found that the dog was mauling the child outside the hospital building.

They immediately rescued the child from the dog’s mouth and took him to the doctors. But, the doctors declared him dead. After getting information, Sector 13/17 police reached the spot.

Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO, Sector 13/17, said inquest proceeding under Section 174 of the CrPC has been initiated into the matter and the body of the infant has been handed over to the kin after post-mortem examination.
