Chandigarh/Gurugram, Apr 13

There has been spurt in the number of Covid cases with Haryana reporting 179 fresh cases today as against 149 yesterday.

The data showed the positivity rate has gone up to 3.5 per cent as against 2.5 per cent yesterday. However, the recovery rate remains high at 98.96 per cent and no death has been reported. On April 4, the state had reported 54 cases.

Meanwhile, Gurugram has been reporting steady increase in Covid cases and reported 146 cases today, taking total number of active cases to 451.

However, authorities said there was nothing to panic as out of them, 450 are in home isolation with mild symptoms and only one patient has been hospitalised.

As the positivity rate in Gurugram touched an alarming 8.5 per cent, the local administration wrote to the state government seeking the wearing of mask.

The local administration also held a special meeting with all private hospitals and mandated testing of entire staff, patients and symptomatic attendants in hospitals.

The majority of cases have a history of recent travel and many had “returned from Goa”. The active cases also involve children who have not got vaccine doses. —
