The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) today demanded the release of Haryana residents arrested from Data Singh Wala border during the farmers’ agitation, besides the withdrawal of police cases against farmer activists.

Other demands

  • Withdrawal of police cases against farm activists
  • Reopening of all roads with immediate effect
  • Withdrawal of police force camping in various schools near the border.

The SKM held a meeting at Narwana town in Jind district, which was presided over by Joginder Singh Nain. The SKM leaders also demanded the immediate reopening of all roads, withdrawal of police force camping in schools near the border. They also condemned the raids conducted on former Governor Satyapal Malik and instead wanted a probe into the serious allegations of corruption levelled by him.

SKM leader Inderjeet Singh said they also resolved to mobilise farmers from across the state for the Delhi Mahapanchayat to be held on March 14.

The SKM also demanded resignations of the Union Home Minister and the Haryana CM for alleged police brutalities on Punjab farmers. The participants observed two-minute silence to mourn the death of young farmer Shubhkaran Singh at the Khanauri border.

“We decided to launch joint district-level jathas to ensure maximum mobilisation of activists for the March 14 mahapanchayat,” Inderjeet Singh said.

Another meeting organised by representatives of various khap panchayats and Bhartiya Kisan Sangharsh Samiti in Jind demanded the release of farmer activists Akshay Narwal, Praveen Madina and Virender Koyel who were arrested during a clash between the farmers and the police at Data Singh Wala border on February 13.
