Skill academy trains 1,270 in Karnal

Karnal: The ICICI Academy for Skills at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Karnal, established in October 2017 by the ICICI Foundation for inclusive growth to provide free vocational training to the youth from economically weaker sections to help them earn a sustainable livelihood, has so far imparted training of skill development to 1,270 youths under the Pradhan Mantri skill development programme. Saurabh Singh, president, ICICI Foundation for inclusive growth, said they had established the centre at ITI in collaboration with the state government with a view to providing vocational training to the less privileged students so that they could earn a sustainable livelihood. A significant achievement of this programme is that 100 per cent of these young candidates who opted for job placement found suitable employment with various organisations. “It offers 12-week courses on ‘office administration’ and ‘selling skills’. The candidates who have completed education till at least 10th standard and are between 18 and 30 years of age can apply for these courses,” he said.

77 donate blood at camp

Kurukshetra: Indira Gandhi National College, Ladwa, organised the 22nd blood donation camp under the banner of the Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club of the college on the occasion of the 46th foundation day of the college. Motivated by philanthropic spirit, 77 participants donated blood. Ishwar Singh, MLA, Guhla, who was the chief guest, applauded the efforts of the college for organising such events and applauded the donors. He also paid homage to Om Parkash Garg, founder of the college, and other founder members for their contribution in the establishment of the college. Pawan Garg, president of the governing body, appreciated the donors. The chief guest gave away certificates to the donors. A poster-making competition and a slogan-writing competition pertaining to the theme of blood donation were also organised.

Seminar on digital transformation

Kurukshetra: A one-day national seminar on “Digital transformation in organisational services: a step towards development and sustainability” was organised by the Department of Commerce of Government College for Girls, Palwal, Kurukshetra. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof BS Bodla from the Department of Management, KUK, Prof Neelam Dhanda, chairperson, Department of Commerce, KUK, and Prof Manjit Singh, Department of Applied Management, Punjabi University, Patiala. Principal Dr Jasbir Kaur welcomed all the delegates and guests of the seminar. Dr Meenakshi, coordinator of the seminar, introduced the theme of the seminar. Dr Suresh Turka, organising secretary, said selected quality research papers out of 150 papers would be imbibed in the form of book. Prof Tejender Sharma, Director, Youth and Cultural Affairs, KUK, Dr Sunita, chairperson, Department of Management, Ch Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani, Dr Promila, director, Self-Financing Courses, Vaish College, Bhiwani, were the resource persons of various technical sessions.

Talent hunt show at DAV Ambala

Ambala: Police DAV Public School, Ambala City, organised a talent hunt show — English Secret Superstars — with elation. The event began with e-lighting of lamp followed by DAV Gaan and a welcome song. Western dance performance enthralled the audience. Dramas ‘Stand United’ and ‘Importance of Education’ captivated the hearts of parents. Flare of ‘French Greetings’ and ‘English Song’ sung by budding Indian Idols left indelible impression in the minds of the audience. Mime presentation ‘Save Water’ captivated everyone gathered here. The event was presided over by school Principal Dr Vikas Kohli.

NSS volunteer off to South Korea

Hisar: Mohammad Firdos Malik, a student of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (HAU) and an NSS volunteer in the university, visited South Korea. He was representing the Youth Affairs and Sports Department under the youth exchange programme along with a delegation of 23 students, NSS volunteers and youth leaders. Dr Devender Singh Dahiya, Director, Sports Welfare Department, said that Malik was selected as a delegate to represent Haryana. He said that the delegation visited cities like Seoul, Busan, Suwon, Ulsan and also participated in the Republic Day parade in Delhi.
