Ambala, February 5
Congress leader Kumari Selja today said all sections of society are unhappy with the policies of the BJP government and the time has come to bring a change.
No time to form law for farmers
The government has no time to form the law to give MSP to farmers, who are being forced to run from pillar to post to get remunerative prices for their produce. — Kumari Selja, Congress Leader
She was addressing a public meeting organised as part of the Congress Sandesh Yatra in Naraingarh on Monday.
The Congress leader said the BJP came to power on the basis of false promises.
While addressing a gathering in Yamunanagar, Selja said, “We want to bring the state and country back on the track of development. The first phase of the yatra ended today and I am grateful to the people who accompanied us during the yatra. We have covered a major part of the state and the remaining areas will be covered during the second phase.”
In his address, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said unemployment was rising and the government was sitting as a mute spectator. The BJP promised to double the farmers’ income, but the farmers were not even getting their cost of production back.
He said, “The government has found new ways to exploit the farmers. Earlier, the government reduced the weight of the urea bag by 5 kg in the name of neem-coated Urea and now it has further reduced the weight by another 5-kg in the name of sulphur-coated urea gold but the price of the bag has been kept unchanged.”
