Air pollution: Schools closed, construction halted in NCR districts

Chandigarh, December 3

In view of the poor AQI in the NCR districts, Additional Chief Secretary Environment and Climate Change has ordered closure of schools in four NCR districts, while construction activity has been halted in 14 districts.

The schools are closed in districts adjoining Delhi, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat and Jhajjar.

The order also put a complete ban on the operation of all diesel generator sets in 14 NCR districts of Haryana till the weather conditions improve.

“The power department shall take all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply in the NCR districts to avoid the use of the DG sets even in the case of an emergency,” added the directions. —TNS
