Route plan for half marathon released

In view of the Faridabad Half Marathon to be held on Sunday morning, the district police has announced a route diversion plan on the main Surajkund road here for March 3.

A Police Department spokesperson said the movement of vehicles would remain completely prohibited on the Surajkund road for around five hours on Sunday morning.

No traffic movement will be allowed on this passage between 5 am and 12 noon and the commuters and residents are advised to take alternative routes, including the NH-19 connecting city with Badarpur border, to go to Delhi or from Delhi to Faridabad.

He said while the 21.2-km-long half marathon would start at 6 am from the Tourism Resort at Surajkund, runners will pass through the NHPC Colony, Manav Rachna Institute, Shri Sidhdata Ashram, Gymkhana Club and Ankhir Gol Chakkar. The athletes will turn left to Sector 21 C and Sector 46 dividing via Marble Market, Badkhal Ankheer Road, Sector-21D Market to finally return to the Surajkund venue.

Meanwhile, participants of the 10-km race will start at 7 am from Surajkund venue and take a U-turn from the NHPC Colony, go to Anangpur Chowk, Manav Rachna Institute and the MVN Cut on Surajkund road to conclude the race at the Surajkund venue. The 3.5-km Fun Run will begin at 7.15 am from Surajkund. Participants would later take a U-turn from the NHPC Colony Cut to finish the race at the same venue.

All arrangements, including security, would be ensured during the race, he said, adding that police officials, including traffic police personnel, would remain deployed on the route during the event.
