Karnal, November 15

Amid the reports of selling the Agro Mall, constructed in the previous Congress regime, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait today reached the mall and warned the government that if it tried to sell the property, farmers would lock the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said the auctioning of mall was being done by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board as per the policy of the department.

“If the Agro Mall is sold, it would be a start of the sale of property of mandis in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh,” Tikait said.

It was the land of farmers, which was purchased by the government, but if the project was not successful, the land should be given back to farmers, he added.

“We will not allow the government to auction it as it is the property of the market board and huge expenses have been incurred on it. If the government tries to sell it, we will not let anyone take possession of the property,” the BKU leader said.
