Hisar, November 23

Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Monday said elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) will be held in February next year.

“The state government has reserved 50 per cent of the PRI posts for women and 8 per cent for Backward Class A,” he told the media here.

The JJP leader further said, “The Bills with regard to the quota provisions had been sent to the Governor for approval. As soon as the Bills are approved, the state will recommend to the Election Commission to hold the poll.”

On the Covid situation, the Deputy Chief Minister said there was no requirement to impose lockdown again though there was need to implement the guidelines strictly in view of the surge in cases.

About the shortage of urea in Punjab, Dushyant said farmers in the neighbouring state were facing shortage of urea as the Punjab Government had failed in arranging the adequate quantity as train services had been affected.
