Poor road repair work a concern

Show comments

Despite spending several crores under the Smart City project, the civic authorities have failed to change their modus operandi when it comes to repair or patchwork of the damaged roads. While a majority of roads have been lying damaged for the past several months, with the deadline for repair already passed, the authorities concerned are still engaging in methods which are outdated. The civic department has resorted to filling the craters and potholes with construction material, which amounts to shabby and poor work as it will get more damaged very soon with the traffic movement or get washed down in rain. Besides, dumping of such material will increase dust pollution. —Satinder Duggal, Faridabad

MC should take up responsibility to Keep city clean

The accompanying photographs since captured in front of Sector 5-9 local bus queue shelter (near Towk Park) and close to Radha Madhav temple entry point in Sector 4 of Panchkula speaks volumes about the highly ignorant attitude of the civic body. What else could explain the agency concerned not simultaneously removing such large number of slush heaps that remain put alongside the adjoining main road itself? Who knows, several of them could also have been washed away during the recent rains that lashed the Tricity. Let the MC authorities arrange to quickly clear various affected segments on this widely used road which connects it with the Zirakpur-Shimla highway. —Shakti Singh, Karnal
