Chandigarh, August 2

The Monsoon Session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly will start with a mock session on August 8 where all MLAs will be trained in the paperless working of the Question Hour, Calling Attention motions and passing of the bills.

Holding a press conference here today, Speaker Gian Chand Gupta said an all-party meeting was called today where the decision was taken. The formal session would start at 2 pm on August 8, he said.

“The MLAs will be trained in operating I-Pads/laptops for the conduct of the proceedings. All members will get a unique code. Though this session will see the use of paper like in previous sessions, subsequently the use of paper will be reduced,” said Gupta.

He said during the meeting, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda suggested for looking for a site for the new Vidhan Sabha building near the Capital Complex. “So, we will seek land near the Capitol Complex. If it is not feasible, we will finalise the land near the railway light point,” he said.

He said the Monsoon Session would be for three days though Hooda had called for a seven-day session during the Business Advisory Committee meeting today.
