40 workers injured in boiler blast at Dharuhera factory in Haryana’s Rewari; 3 critical

The explosion took place at Life-Long factory around 7 pm

Nearly 40 workers were injured due to a reported boiler blast at a factory in Dharuhera industrial area of Rewari district in Haryana on Saturday evening.

More than 100 workers were present at the factory when the blast took place. A number of them sustained burn injuries and were rushed to local hospitals.

Rewari Civil Surgeon Dr Surender Yadav said around 40 persons were injured in the blast, of whom 23 were admitted to the Trauma Centre in Rewari, while the others were taken to other hospitals. Three critically injured patients were referred to Rohtak PGIMS.

”The government as well as private health facilities in the district have been asked to be prepared to provide proper care to the persons injured in the blast,” said the Civil Surgeon.

An injured worker said they were working at the factory when they heard a loud blast following which the factory area in which they were working plunged into darkness.

”There was a commotion and panic as everyone tried to escape and reach a safe place,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Rohtak PGIMS Director, Dr S.S.Lohchab, said the doctors at the institute had been alerted and necessary arrangements made in view of the situation.

As per local sources, the blast took place at Life-Long factory, which manufactures auto parts, around 7 p.m., following which several fire engines and ambulances were rushed to the factory.

The investigating officials said the reason behind the blast was being ascertained.

Police and administrative officials also reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
