Rohtak, July 11

Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Kumari Selja has stated that the people of Haryana were fed up with the functioning of the BJP government and that only the Congress could provide a worthwhile political alternative.

Interacting with newspersons at Rohtak on Monday, the former Haryana Congress president said no other party had the mass base and capability to form the government in the state.”Only the Congress can end the political vacuum prevailing in Haryana due to the lackadaisical approach of the BJP-JJP regime and inability of the other parties to take over the reins of the state,” she said while replying to a question.

Asked about the non-constitution of the state party organisation, the Congress leader conceded that the appointment of office-bearers had not been done for a long time due to internal issues, for which the party had to pay a heavy price.

“Strengthening the party organisation is a must and it will be done by the high command soon,” said Selja, who has been appointed member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) recently.

The Congress leader decried the BJP leadership’s move of toppling the democratically elected non-BJP governments in various states, maintaining that it was not good for democracy.
